Day3-1.jpg
Grass on day three. From left to right: sucrose, caffeine, and control.

THE IMPACT OF SUCROSE AND CAFFEINE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF GRASS. Curry Berg and Crockett King. Aqueous solutions of sucrose and caffeine were used to observe and compare the growth and development of grass. Over three days, grass seed was watered, some with the caffeine solution, some with the sucrose solution, and some with distilled water. The results of this lab were that the grass seedlings watered with sucrose had the greatest amount of growth getting as tall as eight cm. The control plants followed at seven cm. The grass watered with the caffeine solution were the shortest at five cm. The results of this lab confirmed the hypothesis that sucrose would have the greatest growth and caffeine would have the least.
Key Terms: Sucrose, caffeine, planting pods, water, heat lamp.
